Re: What's the name?....

Are you referring to Neil Gow's Lament to the death of his second wife?

Re: What's the name?....

You're welcome :-) It is a beautiful tune! Other favorites of mine are "The New Land" by Otis Tomas and Amelia's Waltz- are you familiar with them?

Re: What's the name?....

no I'm not familiar....but I will definitely look ot them.....hmmm just a ponderin' thought is there a distinction between calling "Neil Gow's Lament" an air? or is it an air and a waltz?

Re: What's the name?....

Oh I see that Neil Gow's Lament is listed as a jig (6/8)....hmm is it just a matter of slowing a tune down?

Re: What's the name?....

I just posted The New Land- I am quite unfamiliar with abc's so hope that it reflects the dots...

Re: What's the name?....

To CC: of the few waltzes I know, Amelia's has been one of my favourites. We recently played for a wedding reception in Stanley, Idaho and besides being one of the most fun gigs I've ever been invloved with, Amelia's Waltz, as played for the bride and groom, ourselves (the band) and anyone else paying heed to the groove, collectively knocked some socks off.
