I'll be in D.C. in the Woodley Park area near the Zoo, at the mercy of a cab ride or the metro, Nov 16 and 17. I already know about Nanny's on Monday--when I won't be there--but is there a session or some other such type of craic on Tuesday or Wednesday somewhere?
Thanks!
Buffalo Billiards in Dupont Circle is good crack. No Irish music, mind you, but some very attractive people.
Joking apart, why don't you head for Baltimore? Half an hour on the MARC gets you there and the music is fantastic! J Patrick's on a Tuesday is the place to be.
For a little closer to Woodley Park, check out Ri-Ra Restaurant and Pub in Bethesda, MD (just across the DC line), 4931 Elm St. They have a session on Wednesday nights from 7-9. Check www.ri-ra.com/locations/Bethesda/ for details.
I would second Ri-Ra. Played there the only time I've ventured down to DC for ITM, and it was worth the trip. Nice little atmosphere, nice people, and good tunes... different enough to satisfy me, but not so different to leave me in the dust.
I think Ri-Ra is further away from Woodley park than Nanny's... by about 3 metro stops. You can walk to Nanny's from Woodley, but not Ri-Ra. See: http://www.mwaa.com/national/metro.htm .
Other places w/live music, but not necessarily sessions include Dubliner (Union Station metro), Murphy's (Old Town Alexandria/King Street Metro).
Where's the craic in D.C.?

What's "ITM" and "craic"?

Re: Where's the craic in D.C.?
ITM - Irish TransvestoMasochism
Craic - a form of cocaine popular in ireland.
But its a family site, so we don't say it out loud
