I recently bought a set of uilleann pipes and I do not have a case for them. If there are any pipers out there who could say what would be good or what they use for a case. Thanks in advance.
I'm not a piper, but two pipers that I know like to use hard-plastic tool boxes for their pipes. One told me that she uses a Craftsman brand box because it's sturdy and light-weight.
i have people all the time asking me if they can beat a rhythym on my fiddle case, mind you it has a soft shell, not really producing any audible sound.... though i was immensly amused when i saw someone beating a flute case on the table...
i'm sensing a grand opportunity here lads. flute and fiddle cases are much cheaper than the actual instruments... we could all get rich!! ;)
A snooker (or billiard) cue case is ideal for storing a spare fiddle bow or two, or for transporting a bow safely to a repairer. It's a couple of inches longer than a bow so all you need to do is to put some foam packing, or similar, in the ends to protect the bow ends. At about £12 it's slightly cheaper than the £70-80 you'd expect to pay for a genuine bow case!
BTW, I didn't know that Jimmy White plays the fiddle
Jimmy White, a Londoner who has been around a long time, is probably the best snooker player never to have won a world title. His signature appears on some cue cases.

I know a few people who use a viola case for their half sets. I think you'd have to remover the bass drone slide/resonator but it should fit otherwise. Full set's another story. Baritone Sax case perhaps?

Re: instrument case
i've heard of people using a golf club bag -no kidding - it's the kind of thing you could pick up at a boot fair or Oxfam shop.

Re: instrument case
SL*, yes, on reflection I'd go along with that. And probably no "probably" about it either, (we're getting a bit recursive here!).
