Hello, sessioneers. My name is Skipjack, bane of Mudcat, and this is my first submission here. I play accordion and fiddle, and have found the tune scores here very useful . I can't read music, but I give the tunes to my session mates (the Sloop, Barton on Humber, North Lincs. UK, every Tuesday, plug plug) so they can play along.
My question is relating to a tune I have learnt as Scattery Island Slide. I heard it twinned with the Kilfenora (Old Favourite) by Four Men and a Dog, called the Sexy set, I believe. Does anyone know any other names it is known as, and is it here?
Co. Clare flute player Bill MacNamara taught the 4 Men & A Dog tune as the "Scattery Island" slide at the Willie Clancy School a few years back, and it was recorded under that name by the late John Kelly - that's good enough for me!
Scattery Island Slide - any other name?
