A few years ago, the Radio Scotland Celtic Connections show played a real stonker of a tune by Donal Lunny. It was in 2 parts, with the second part in Am with some really weird timings. I've got the tune stuck in my head now, but i've no idea what the tune is called or what album it's on - any ideas?
Also on that show was Sharon Shannon, Tim O'Brien, and Tommy Smith.
If it's not on the Coolfin recording, it might be something off the live album he did years ago which is probably very hard to get (I've only got it on tape) but which is a fantastic piece of work. I see it's in the "Recordings" section (submitted by Dow no less).
..and the second part is for the most part in a major key. I still think Jocklet is probably right though, as The Tolka Polka is one of the best tunes Lunny has ever written, in my opinion, humble or otherwise.
You have an outside loo? You were lucky. Wish we'd had an outside loo. [cue Monty Python jibes]
I like the way you draw lots; reminds me of how people test spaghetti. "Would you like your socks al dente sir? Black pepper with that?"
Birman, the tune before it has another name, which for the life of me I can't remember (sorry). Donal Lunny calls it Denis Doody's 'cos that's who he heard it from - he couldn't remember the real name either.
Help trying to find a Donal Lunny tune?!

It might be "Timedance", which was probably the ancient precursor to Riverdance. You can hear it on the Seville Suite LP

...although the Tolka Polka has 3 parts, not 2. Probably named after the river Tolka, which flows through the North side of Dublin.

Check the Balkan stuff under 'barndance'...
Oh, and Jimmy always wins first wash, because he never changes his socks and they stick to the gables real good...
(his disowned and disavowed lost brother... I got fed up with losing out in the wash dash...)

Re: Help trying to find a Donal Lunny tune?!
Thanks everyone! It was the Tolka Polka. I've also discovered the tune before it was Dennis Doody's, which i'm just about to get stuck into.
The fun part will now be throwing into a session and see what happens (!) Cheers.

Jack, to answer your question, no - this is the thread for abuse.
Jocklet, do you live in Limburg by any chance?
