Does anyone know where the saltarelle b/c box factory in Italy is? I'd like to go there next summer if I can make it. I'd love to see how they're made and see if I can find an Italian person that can play a tune on it. My little white buttons keep on falling off and all, a slight design flaw..the screw doesn't go in deep enough. Thought I'd be awkward enough to bring it to their attention. It's a great way of meeting locals and all. I love that. I'd love to hear what sound Italians get out of it, if they do play it or whether it's produced solely for the Irish music market.
Yeah, I thought they were french as well. From that website, you contact them to an address in Paris.
Wendy, if you're looking for a good priced Castagnari, have a look at this ebay post: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=308&item=3746439424&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW#ebayphotohosting
Also, if you want to hear and learn the finest Italian box music, if you can, try and get a hold of "L'Organetto Diatonico - storia, struttura, tecnica e didactica in musica e intavolatura" by Roberto Tombesi & Ricardo Tesi (with the English text, obviously). This is a tutor with a tape, and is excellent.
Thank you all. Hoping to go to Italy next summer and want to see how they make them! I love my box! Think there's a slight design flaw. The little white plastic things attached by screws at the bottom keep working themselves loose and dropping off. Apart from that I think it's a cracker. Wonder if the Italians play them, or whether they're just produced for an Irish market?
There you are! Paolcer must have it right. It's not a Salterelle at all, it's a Dino Baffetti.
I hate name-plate engineering! Remember the old days when you couldn't tell an Austin from a Morris from a Wolseley from a Riley from a Vanden Plas? All British Leyland stupid niche identities.

Yeah, what they doin in Italy? I thought Saltarelle was a French outfit.
I believe that all the accordion factories in Italy are lined up on the main street in Castelfidardo. Or so Emilio Allodi (accordions) told me...

The Saltarelle box are made in Italy from
DINO BAFFETTI. The factory is in Castelfidardo, near Ancona, in the center-east of Italy.
