Hello to all and Happy day-after St. Patrick's Day, 2002!
Fantastic web site. Many thanks to anyone who has
anything to do with running www.thesession.org. It's
a fantastic resource for all.
I am an Irishman and a fiddler living in the Ozark mountains
of Arkansas in the USA.
My question is... does ANYONE here know where I might
be able to get some sheet music for an ITM (Irish Traditional
Music) tune called 'The Rocks of Brawn'?
I heard it on a St. Patrick's day music broadcast just yesterday
and it has to be one of the finest tunes I have ever heard.
Lilting but hypnotic and runs well at all different speeds
from medium to hard-fast reel.
I cannot find a listing of this song anywhere on the Internet
either free or for sale. I would certainly be willing to pay anyone
for a copy of the sheet music if I could just find it.
The song is in the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem 'The Irish Songbook 75 song'. It's also in the Celtic Fakebook, 400 songs from Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Re: The Rocks of Brawn
Hi Brother Steve...
Thanks for the ( almost instant ) reply.
Sure enough... It was the 'Rocks of Bawn' and
most certainly not 'The Rocks of Brawn'.
Simply Google search for 'The Rocks of Bawn'
gives over 570 hits whereas 'The Rocks of Brawn'
produces squat.
What a difference 1 letter can make.
Thanks again!

Re: The Rocks of Bawn
For just the melody, go to JC's abc tunefinder and type in "Rocks of Bawn". You will get a gif image of notation.

And Arcady does a terrific version of this song on the CD "Many Happy Returns". I love Niamh Parson's voice.
Hi, folks, I'm new here, although I do know a couple of members, n9yty and cdkrueger.

Re: The Rocks of Brawn
There is a very nice version of this song on Liam O'flynn's CD "The Given Note"
Liam plays the uilleann pipes and Paul Broudy plays mandolin and sings the song
