Do you know the name of this tune?

Do you know the name of this tune?

Hello,

I learned this reel from a CD, but have no idea what it's called. I've searched on all the ABC tune sites to no avail. Does anybody recognise it?

Thanks for your help!
-David

Re: Do you know the name of this tune?

It's the Ballyvourney polka.

Re: Do you know the name of this tune?

The Salmon Tailing up the River may be another name for it. It's definitely a polka though. You can find it on the Live from Patrick Street album.

Re: Do you know the name of this tune?

Funny - there is a "Salmon Tailing up the River" in the database, but it's not the same tune.

Re: Do you know the name of this tune?

You're right, sixholes.

Explanation follows...

The Patrick St. album I referred to -http://www.thesession.org/recordings/display.php/51 has a set of three polkas:

Jack the Bridge
Cuil Aodha
Salmon Tailing up the River

On the CD, the second polka in the set is the tune windbag was inquiring about. But the "Cuil Aodha" here in the database is the *third tune* in the set. I assumed there was a typo or a switch in the names. Sorry for the confusion...

The upshot is...the polka is definitly on the Patrick St. album, but now I am thoroughly confused about the name! :) Ignore my original post, windbag-forget about the salmon.

Re: Do you know the name of this tune?

Thank you! I'll just call it the Ballyvourney Polka, since I can maybe pronounce it correctly ;) It's listed as that on TuneDB.org -- though I'm not sure why it doesn't come up in an ABC search...

Thanks again,
David

Re: Do you know the name of this tune?

In fact, in the Geraldine Cotter recording, Ballyvourney Polka is immediately followed by "Cuil Aodha" (which she calls Johnny Mickey's).

Could it be that the Patrick St. set actually contains four tunes?

P.s.

Since it's not in our DB, how about uploading it, David?

Re: Do you know the name of this tune?

Well, I gave it a shot; it's my first crack at ABC. If you know ABC, would one of you mind taking a look at it to make sure it's all legal? It's on the most recent tunes page, of course.

Re: Do you know the name of this tune?

Nevermind; I saw that it came through in notation already. 'Looks alright to me.
