Well, you know - he's believe it or not a 'binman' by trade (!).....but I saw him play at a piping concert in Pitlochry in Nov/Dec. He stole the show....the audience went completely wild throughout his whole performance.....he came on in his old jeans and played a couple of sets, but didn't even say a word to the audience....which made him all the more 'mysterious' though. However, he came across as being very relaxed and cool, and was given a hell of a lot of respect by the crowd.
You are right though, jimbob....dunno why he doesn't do more gigs.
Gordon is not a professional musician, but ask yourself, seriously, how many people outside of the piping fraternity would sit down and listen to any solo piper for 90 minutes to 2 hours. On the other hand, here's an opportunity for you. Why not book a hall,[ you won't need a PA system ! ] , and put him on yourself? I'm sure he'd love to do it.
I think that Gordon Duncan should do some gigs too. He was at The CWC a couple of years ago, and it had been a great concert.
Does any body have have some of his tunes or do You know where I can find them? (The Sleeping Tune, The High Drive etc)
Gordon Duncan
Gordon Duncan
Why do you never see or hear of Gordon Duncan doing gigs? He is a brilliant composer and also an exceptional piper. It seems quite strange...

Re: Gordon Duncan
Well you could say that, but Slainté Mhath get away with it. If he was accompanied, it might not be so bad at all. The other strange thing is, you never find contacts for him on the web. He hasn't even got a website. Also he wouldn't have to do a gig all by himself. You could have other acts on before and after him.
