I am from near blackpool, and I was wondering if I am the only young folkie in the area? The nearest session to me is in preston and this is to far to travel avery week. if you exist please reply! :P
hi mate,
i am not from up there, but every year (except this one coming up!) i get to Flyde Folk Festival at Fleetwood.
There are some cracking sessions on the friday and saturday night at least, in the Queen Vic, and afew in the Wyre Lounge in the Marine Hall which i couldnt get to as you have to be 18, doh!.
The Queen Vic sess is excellent, with people like Hugh O'Donnel Joe Crane, and Thom Walsh leading them. There are some really weird instruments like hurdy-gurdy's, hammered dulcimers, twin necked bouzouki's etc!!
Also there is stuff happening in the Steamer pub in Fleetwood.
I noticed on Mudcat.org that the Steamer pub has folk happening EVERY Tuesday from 11:30am - 2:30pm ie daytime. here is the number it said Tel: 01253 771756
Either that or just pop along.
Hope this is of some help. Get along to Flyde Festival and i am sure you will meet quite afew musicians that live locally.
Hey Joe it's Amy, you know from Durham. How are you? How's everyone else? Your not ugly and what was up on that Saturday we left Durham? You were dead quiet.
Am I alone?

Re: Am I alone?
There used to be regular ITM sessions at the Queen Vic in Fleetwood, may still be going. They'll definitely be there during Fylde Folk Festival.
Also used to be on Friday nights at the 'Caribou' Glasson Dock.
I Moved away a couple of years ago, so the Glasson Dock info isn't 100% certain to be up to date.

Re: Am I alone?
Yes we're all alone in the uncomprehending vastness of space. Engineered by blind differential death in an unheeding Cosmos.
Still,
Mustn’t grumble
PS You’d be welcome at the Sessions in Manchester.

Re: Am I alone?
I don't know if this is any good to you - I submitted this session some time ago, but I don't really know if it still exists:
