Why not? Everyone else does. It's a good way to hear about events you wouldn't normally know about, find out who's gigging with who, hear about players you haven't heard of before and so on. Keep it up.
Isn't it the case that trad musicians need all the publicity they can get? You can advertise a session here, or rave on about someone's recording... I don't see any problem with posting info on upcoming gigs as well.

That's right. Posting info about upcoming gigs is perfectly fine: especially when it prompts some chat like this one has.
It's a handy way of being able to publicly answer any questions people might have about the gig.
