Hello all!! I am currently on a quest to find a fiddle. I have found one that is ok but I have only lokked at 2 places. Soon i will be taking a trip to the Elderly show room located in Lancing MI. I wondered if there are any places I could stop along the way at. Or just any place that haas a good variety of fiddels. I would greatly appreciate any imput!! Thanks!!!
Play every fiddle you can get your hands on before making a decision, AJ, even in pawn shop basements. Dollar amount is largely a matter of perception and vapors, find one that you like the sound and feel of.
Hi AJ,
As a Lansing native I gotta say, plan on spending a long time at Elderly. They've got so much great stuff, I could spend hours there! While you're in the Lansing area check out White Brother's, they cater to the string set, their # is (517) 349-3806. Enjoy yourself, and good luck finding your new fiddle!

There is a very good fiddle maker in the Lansing area - Brian Bishop - the folks at Elderly will be able to direct you to him. His fiddles are bright and very powerful. I know a few people in the area that have them and they sound tremendous. If you're looking for a mid-grade fiddle however you're better off just scouring pawn-shops and enjoying yourself in the fiddle room at Elderly.

You need to take a look at Ged Foley's EFiddles -
http://www.efiddles.com
The trad fiddlers in Central Ohio like the place a lot.
All the best.
