Hi everyone:
I need information about accordion teachers (I play B/C tuning) in the Galway area (or Clare), I'm moving there on August and I would like to get some lessons from a good teacher.
Thanks.
Esther
Martin plays with Dorsa: paul meehan (guitar), tiarnán ó duinnchinn ( uilleann pipes & whistles), paul bradley (fiddle/viola, stephanie makem (vocals) and of course martin on accordion: http://www.dorsa.com
In 1996 Martin received the TTCT Diploma from the Irish Department of Education and Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Eireann for teaching the 2 row Button Accordion.
Martin began his professional career as a musician in 1994. Since then he has toured Europe and the USA various bands including Lá Lugh appearing at festivals in France, Finland, Britain and Germany.
He has featured on TV and radio nationally and internationally and has contributed to Paul Bradley’s fine solo album "The Atlantic Roar" and more recently on Composer Josephine Keegan ‘s double CD ‘Lifeswork’ contributing 2 tracks.
When not playing, Martin is in keen demand as an Accordion tuner and repairer and also as a Box teacher.
You can tell Martin that I passed his name on to you and hopefully he will be able to teach you. His full details should be on that site, contact details etc at: http://www.reeltrad.com/contact.html
Thanks for the info!!.
I think Martin Quinn is the best option,I will contact him when I stay in Ireland.
I met Anders a couple of years ago in Galway, nice box player but he plays C#/D and Mairtin O'Connor plays this tuning too (and not sure if he teaches).
Esther.

Re: Button accordion teachers in the Galway area
Hey there,
Martin O Connor also lives in Galway but I am not too sure whether he teaches or not.
As Murrough said I believe Martin QUINN would be your best bet for this one.
Colm Healy another brilliant box player from Clare also lives in Galway, not sure if he teaches but he is a lovely guy and a great musician.
Other box players in Galway that I know of is a guy called Anders hes from Sweden and Verena Cummins.
Your can normally find these musicians in Galway city either playing in Taffes or Tigh Colis.
Good Luck

Re: Button accordion teachers in the Galway area
If you're talking about Anders Trabjerg, who plays the C#/D paolo soprani, he's Danish, not swedish. But he's a great player anyway...
