After the news about Lunasa's loss, I thought Session members might like to hear a pleasant ending of another stolen instrument incident. The story comes from the Cittern List.
Last December, Wally had his Fylde cittern stolen in Portland, Oregon. Here is what he just posted to the cittern list
"I had a call from a shop in Portland yesterday, called Pioneer Music. They have my cittern. The caller, a guy called KC, bought it from a dealer knowing that it was probably stolen. It was being sold too cheap, and the dealer didn't know what it was. He then asked around in the Portland area to see if he could find out who's it was, and his trail led to me. He has some logistics to sort out, like getting his money back from the dealer, but promised to reunite me in a couple of days. It is still in mint condition with case, and needless to say, I am thrilled. KC said there were 3 other people behind him wanting to buy it and if one of them had, it probably would not have resurfaced."
"It is amazing. He bought it so he could return it. I can't really describe how I feel about what he did, except to say that he has warmed my soul with his generosity of thought and action."
KC, by the way, is the owner of Pioneer Music. I for one will certainly consider buying from him in the future.
there's good people everywhere....once, in about 1993, I-get this-I LEFT a hundred dollars sitting on the output shelf of an ATM .. yes i did.... About a week later the bank phoned me with some obtuse questions: "which ATM's in town do I usually use?" "what denominations do I usually withdraw?" etc... Someone had found th money in the ATM and WALKED TWO BLOCKS to the bank to say they had found it! holy makey! and i had walked halfway home before i realized i had left the money on the tray, and didn't even bother to walk back to see if I could retrieve it, so poor was my faith in humanity...
somebody last week or so posted a story about how they drove their car over their fiddle! yikes! i seem to recall he was also distracted because of a woman...
Jim, the big question is, do you now care that you don't have the girl, as now you might actually stand a chance of keeping your instruments in one piece and in your possession?

Re: Stolen instrument story
Wow. He didn't even know at the time whether it really was stolen, he was just taking a chance, which makes it even nicer.

Re: Stolen instrument story
well... if it hadn't been stolen, he'd have got a bargain instrument, so he wouldn't really have gone wrong either way!
