Northwich? Any info folks? (also an interesting tale)...(possibly)...(maybe).....not that interesting really

So, i was out busking the other day down at the Albert Dock for the River Festival. All was going swimmingly and i ended up averaging about twelve pound an hour. After about forty minutes in one particular pitch an elderly gentleman came up to me and gave me his card. "Give me a ring", says the fella. As it turns out this man is an organiser of some festival and i've been invited to play. Actually think its a Biker Festival but the experience will be marvellous. Now, if any of you seasoned ladies and gents have any info on Northwich and the Trad/Folk scene there, t'would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Nick

Sorry can't help but good for you for being 'discovered'. This happened to us a the Blythe Hill Tavern (the one that's cancelling us for the football - and thanks for sympathy and suggestion by the way) and we were asked to play at a local beer festival last month.
good luck with the exams results by the way

Could have been me too.

I have been spending the last year dead for tax reasons.

Nick - would this be it? Northwich is in North Cheshire, yeah? Quite near Runcorn etc. This looks like something to do with their local rugby club, probably the social focus of the town.

Hi Nick!

Surprised you survived swimming the Albert Dock. By the way thanks for the brill photos of Bruce, Tony, Terry, Pete et al...L'pool Festival....great friends and I was gobsmacked to see them all jumping out of the screen...

Anyway, back to Northwich...
there's always been a good scene round there, some great sessions in the past, try and see if you can find an Adrian Sumner (possibly Summer) used to do a lot with music, poetry, arts, and if still involved would know details of everything.. Good luck!

Brianx

PS. If you get to the session at Aigburth, please send a very big hug and best wishes to Sean Mac!

You know Sean Mac?!!! He's a great fiddle player isn't he. There's no session in Aigburth any more. Only two in town these days Should be picking up though as the Irish Centre is reopening in the next year.

Hi Nick!
Yes! I know Sean alright! He's done SO MUCH for music, and everytime I got back to Liverpool after moving South, we always met up for a tune; Tony Gibbons, Terry Coyne, young Eammon, Pete Lacey et al.
My Uncle Michael was one of Sean's great friends, and he too did a lot to keep the tradition going.
Keep up your good work yourself, I've heard a lot about you!

I remember we did a gig years ago in Northwich, in a venue called the "Harlequin Theatre", details are as follows:
Harlequin Theatre,
Queens Street, Northwich, Cheshire, CW9 5JN
I think the contact is Gerry Harris (01606) 76889

info@northwichfolk.co.uk

You'll probably find all the info that you need on their website. Good luck!
