Re: New Recordings

I listen to Clare fm broadcasting from Ennis on-line Mondays and Tuesdays and enjoy listening to CDs that are independently produced by musicians that aren't necessarily part of the ITM touring machinery.

Re: New Recordings

Phow! Where do we start?

off the top of my head, in a less than sober state, I can recomend you this lot...de de de musicfan, what have you got in your personal bio? Tell us something about yourself why dontcha?

....yeah this lot:

Within a Mile o' Jamestown - Mick Mulvey

just listen to that 10 times over and that'll do ye for a top ten. Ohh alright....

The Banks of the Shannon - Paddy O'Brien(Tipp) & Seamus Connolly. THERE'S ONLY *ONE* PADDY O'BRIEN!!!! ....hold on a minute! There are two, of equal legendogenic quality...

Is it Yourself? James Kelly, Paddy O'Brien (Offally) & Die-hy?....Daithi? Davy? Sproule? I forget - him anyway.

Kiss me Kate - Liz Carroll &

Traditional Music of Ireland - Frankie Gavin & Alec Finn. Pure Classic.

Doublin' - Paddy Glackin & Paddy Keenan. Glackin says he's a bit embarrased by this offering. Thousands upon thousands humbly beg to differ...

Think back to a lovely wee album by Mairead Ni Mhaoinaigh & Frankie Kennedy - Ceoil Adhuaidh - "Northern Music" - forgive my spelling...

Chris Stout's new Album, it's brilliant!
Anna Massie, young trad winner 2003, amazing talent.
Session A9 is a must with Charlie MacKerron, Gordon Gunn, Duncan Chisohm, Adam Sutherland, Kris Drever, Brian MacAlpine and Tim Edey in the line up, you can't go wrong

Re: New Recordings

If it's a band's recording, you should try great Scottish group, Deaf Shepherd. They are much much greater than Lunasa: http://www.deafshepherd.demon.co.uk/

If it's a solo fiddle recording, try the debut album of the most promissing Scottish fiddler Patsy Reid. She plays the traditional music of Ireland, Scotland, Cape Breton, and Shetland in her very mature, old-fashioned style. http://www.patsyreid.com/

If it's a flute and fiddle album, you should buy "The Tap Room Trio." Definitely one of the best recordings of the last year. http://www.claddaghrecords.com/www/product.asp?pID=1596

There're tons of nice ones, but for some others have a look at my website. http://slainte.web.infoseek.co.jp/cdi_en.html

Re: New Recordings

Yeah, Footstompin' Records is a great label for Scottish stuff. For the Irish ones, have a look at Claddagh Records: http://www.claddaghrecords.com/www/default.asp You can sample many independent releases too.

Re: New Recordings

The new Mozaik is the best recording of the year and a very powerful recording it is too.

Andy Irvine, Planxty, Patrick Street would have to be in there on any ' Best ' recordings recommendation.

Some of my personnal favourite albums of all time are here

Re: New Recordings

The duo Grey Larsen and Paddy League have two CDs. I highly recommend the first one "The Green House." I haven't heard the second "The Dark of the Moon" but I'm sure it's just as good.

Re: New Recordings

I recommend the following CDs (my personal favorites):
"Northern Lights" by Seamus and Kevin Glackin.
"The Road to Glenlough" by James Byrne.
"Stay Another While" by Paul O'Shaughnessey.
Actually, I have lots of favorites, but these are my favorite favorites. :-)
