Just wondering apart from the usuals Altan,Dervish,De Dannan,Lunasa etc is there any albums any of you would recommend. Either be it bands or musicians.

I listen to Clare fm broadcasting from Ennis on-line Mondays and Tuesdays and enjoy listening to CDs that are independently produced by musicians that aren't necessarily part of the ITM touring machinery.

Session A9 is a must with Charlie MacKerron, Gordon Gunn, Duncan Chisohm, Adam Sutherland, Kris Drever, Brian MacAlpine and Tim Edey in the line up, you can't go wrong
If it's a band's recording, you should try great Scottish group, Deaf Shepherd. They are much much greater than Lunasa: http://www.deafshepherd.demon.co.uk/
If it's a solo fiddle recording, try the debut album of the most promissing Scottish fiddler Patsy Reid. She plays the traditional music of Ireland, Scotland, Cape Breton, and Shetland in her very mature, old-fashioned style. http://www.patsyreid.com/
Yeah, Footstompin' Records is a great label for Scottish stuff. For the Irish ones, have a look at Claddagh Records: http://www.claddaghrecords.com/www/default.asp You can sample many independent releases too.
The duo Grey Larsen and Paddy League have two CDs. I highly recommend the first one "The Green House." I haven't heard the second "The Dark of the Moon" but I'm sure it's just as good.
I recommend the following CDs (my personal favorites):
"Northern Lights" by Seamus and Kevin Glackin.
"The Road to Glenlough" by James Byrne.
"Stay Another While" by Paul O'Shaughnessey.
Actually, I have lots of favorites, but these are my favorite favorites.

The new Mozaik is the best recording of the year and a very powerful recording it is too.
Andy Irvine, Planxty, Patrick Street would have to be in there on any ' Best ' recordings recommendation.
