Ever accidently missed a session you've been really looking forward to?!!!!!! Anticlimax or what.
Ever accidently missed a session you've been really looking forward to?!!!!!! Anticlimax or what.
Well, you guys might of seen more of me on this websight than usual recently of late. That's been because I've been at my parents home away from Dundee, Scotland, (meant to be) revising for my final medical viva which I had yesteday (thursday afternoon). Post viva, went to the pub with a couple of friends, drank 4 pints and came home for supper and then decided to have a power nap before going out to the session at the Fisherman's at 10.30ish.
Suffice it to say, I've just woken up and its 1:49 am on Friday. I've missed the session, the tunes and everything else which was keeping my motivation levels up for the last two weeks of revision for my viva.
Numptie, as they would say here of me I suspect, and what an anticlimax.....

Don't worry. These things happen all the time and will do so a lot more. Life (if not the night) is still young, so there's plenty of time for more tunes.

That is a bummer, but what a coincidence you started this thread! Just tonight, sitting at my slow session, I was planning on hitting this Sunday's session (a full speed session) at McBride's Pub for the very first time. I had it on my calendar, both at home and at work, was really pumped to go, and learned tonight that I apparently can't read a bleedin' calendar...since the third Sunday of the month was last Sunday not the upcoming one!

I missed a whole day after an All-Ireland Fleadh once, didn't realise why everyone was taking the piss when I finally emerged from bed cos what I thought was a two-hour nap was 26 hours! I didn't know it was possible to sleep that long. But then I'd had about 5 hours sleep in the previous 5 days … and a little drink. Of course this was when I was young and could drink a bit; I'm a reformed character now. I can feel the lake-cleaning stories coming on...

Many years ago, I went to Cambridge Folk festival and made the mistake of staying in a "B and B". After staying up all Friday night and getting up to "God knows what?", I decided to go back to my room which was about half an hour's walk away. This was about tea time on Saturday. I just meant to get the head down for an hour but didn't surface until the next day. So, I missed the Saturday night. Sunday was good though and I never got back to the "B and B" that night either.
I decided to camp at Cambridge the next time.

Not for a session but I had this really big concert once and I got sick the day of it, it was for Bassoon and the sickness involved a sore throat...
if you would like the full story I would be glad to tell it.

bb missed the session last night, but I think it might have been out of laziness, and we're all annoyed with her for not turning up.

Not to worry these things happen, just hop on a train to Manchester and you can take part in the session at the Beer House tonight.
