Re: Flute Tape

Oops.

After a closer listen, it seems the tune I was talking about is The maids of Mt. Kisco. Sorry.

Re: Flute Tape

Good tune though, Dan. As are many of the other tunes on that link.

Re: Flute Tape

I'm more interested in the name of the first one - I've heard it around and probably played it many times without a clue of its name.

Re: Flute Tape

The first reel in 8.mp3 is Over the Bog Road, unknown player #1.

Re: Flute Tape

Does anyone know who is responsible for this site? There's an awful lot of gan ainms there. I had a listen and identified quite a few of them. I tried emailing the titles to the contact address given, but it bounced back at me.

For the benefit of anyone reading this, here they are:

1.mp3: a setting of The Mountain Top (not Darby's Farewell)
10.mp3: Hughie Travers'/Garret Barry's
7.mp3: 1st tune The Shannonaires Jig, aka Charlie Mulvihill's (composed by Pete Kelly, according to Henrik Norbeck)
8.mp3: 1st tune Over the Bog Road
9.mp3: 1st tune The Gatehouse Maid

edmaloney2.mp3: Mama's Pet
edmaloney5.mp3: Queen of the Rushes

flute-cittern.mp3: The Roving Bachelor/Miss McGuinness

jack_dolan2.mp3: 1st tune Touch Me If You Dare
jack_dolan4.mp3: Roaring Mary
jmc1.mp3: Micho Russell's ( I have yet to hear any other name for this
tune)

packie1.mp3: 2 reels Lucky in Love/The Bloom of Youth
packie3.mp3: 2nd tune The Butcher's March
packie4.mp3: known variously as Micho Russell's (Mary Bergin), Sean
Reid's Fancy (Tommy Peoples) and Upstairs in a Tent (also another tune)
packie5.mp3: The Piper's Despair

patsyh2.mp3: 2nd tune Miss McGuiness
patsyh3.mp3: 1st tune Anderson's
patsyh4.mp3: Sweeney's Dream/The Rising Sun
