Hey everyone, I'm up late packing & will lose internet access in about 8 hours. I've sent emails to Tusong & Max, I have 2 tracks on minidisc I need to mail to someone. Help! Or is it too late? :(
I posted mine on Monday and it's got to fly all the way over to California, so it probably won't reach Max till next week. And there are probably other people out there who are lame-arsed and late like us Em. At least you've got an excuse with moving house tho'...
Doh! I'm so tired, I just found it in my inbox, sorry Max.
I would just like to say that I have reduced my worldly belongings to about 10% of what it was, which is truly astonishing. It still seems overwhelming. I recorded my track in my empty living room last night while waiting for a woman to come pick up my cat, & guess what? She never came. I guess he's coming to Baltimore with me.....
Emily, I hope you wrapped your minidisc better than I did before mailing - especially since you put in so much last minute effort to get it done. Max reported that the disc I sent him was slightly damaged in transit. The metal thingie came off. I thought I'd wrapped it well enough by putting a piece of cardboard around it and putting it in a regular envelope. Okay, it was kind of a thin piece of cardboard, but hey I didn't have time to go to the post office and get a decent mailing envelope. And didn't AOL send me hundreds of floppy disks back in the day wrapped in virtually nothing but an advertising flyer that all came through unscathed? I thought it was worth the gamble...
Anyway, Max was going to try and fix mine but I haven't heard if he was successful or not. Hope yours has better luck. I look forward to hearing your tracks and everyone else's whenever this thing hits the streets. I guess it'll be a multi-CD box set. My two tracks alone totaled probably 10 minutes. Two sets of two or three tunes 3X through starts to add up. Or will it just be sampled? I guess we'll have to wait to find out.
Enjoy your session tour across country. Maybe I'll see you if you ever make it to DC!
Uh-oh, I hope my disc made it to Max unscathed as well.
Emily, if you see this best of luck and have fun going cross country. We'll have to get together for tunes when you are settled in at your parents. Are you going cross country with the dogs as well as the cat? Good luck with that!
After the session I went to last night, I can't beleive I put anything I play on fiddle onto a recording. What a long road it's going to be. But I already knew that, didn't I?
Good luck with your move, Em.
I e-mailed Max today to see if I can still send a track by e-mail mp3 attachment. No reply as yet. maybe I'm too late, shucks.
Thanks Conan,
do you or does anyone have an e-mail address for max where I can send it. Otherwise is there some way of attaching the track to an e-mail using this site?
Sorry but I'm terribly untechnical.
Thank you everyone for the kind wishes! I feel like I've seriously been through a war or something. I can't ever remember feeling so.... beat up, physically, emotionally.... To make matters worse, my driving companion is stuck in Albuquerque with her back thrown out, so I've had to bribe a husband of a friend to drive my car out there, take the train to Gallup, & get picked up from there, & I'll drive the moving van later today. I was sort of counting on her to help me limp across the packing finish line, but here I am, solo. That woman picked up my cat this morning around 6:30 without warning, & I cried for about an hour, mostly due to lack of sleep..... Yeah, that's enough gushing, but thank you again for the kind wishes, I hope to be out of here very soon.
PS Jerball, call me on my cell phone towards the weekend if you're still up for chunes.
I emailed my contributions to the Mighty Craic according to the first deadline, but still have been unable to assure or get acknowledged that it was received. Furthermore, doing the recording made some adjustments to the tune sets which I hoped would be reflected on the dibs list.
Question: Has anyone set up a list of files that have been received?
Em, Em, Em.
Sorry to hear you're so splatted and beat up, babes. Big hug - air kisses mwah mwah.. I hope things start to trolley off soon. Good luck with the whole deal.
BTW - we need to talk - I wanna go to the Catskills - I'd say about 90-something % certainty, the week before my presentation at the Philly Alzheimer's Conf.
wow, kerri, a 90% reduction in worldly belongings. can i hire you as a consultant? i am going to need a serious redution plan pronto, as i'm moving to mexico in july, and last i checked they don't allow a whole hellava percentage of worldly belongings on the flight. of course, about the only logistics i'm thinking about now involve how i'm going to keep my flute humidified in the middle of the freaking bone-dry Sierra Madre desert. priorities, priorities...
Actually, Brendan, you had a psychic moment. I just reduced my belongings MORE than 90 % when I moved to Montreal from Calgary via Ireland and Toronto. It helps if you pack light (as if for a holiday), take the longest possible road, then lose things along the way.
Never thought id become a geek and get on this site (no offence anyone Just wishing my good friend Emily luck across country, wish I was going along for the ride. Dont get to stressed. Hope to talk to you soon Peter
Hi Peter, Yeah if someone told me a few years ago, I'd be glued to a yellow internet site during my work hours, I would have thought they were smoking crack! (the bad stuff..hehehe)
But hey, if it weren't for this website, I would have never met my festival partner in crime : )
Whoa, a lot to catch up on. Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier.
Dow, I have not received your recording yet.
johnkerr, I haven't tried fixing you minidisc yet, but I will.
Yes Andee, I got your disc just fine.
No Joe, your not too late. I didn't get your email. As soon as I get the chance, I'll send you an email with my address.
Halldor, I got all three of your tracks and your photo just fine.
"Question: Has anyone set up a list of files that have been received?"
No. Not yet. Before I send everything to Sandy, I will post a list of everything I have gotten. Please bear with me though, I have to organize all the tracks first which is a really big, time-consuming job. Please give me a little time, and I'll get it all done soon.
Thanks Max,
I sent my track to you at an e-mail address I got from Halldor eringobragh etc. Hope you got it.
I appreciate all the work you're putting in as I'm sure we all do.

Re: Mighty Craic
You won't need a blender if you just put your ingredients in a guitar case and give it to the baggage handlers on your way down.
