Hi, This could be of interest to the fiddlers in the Toronto area, this is a new session just started last month by Phil and Debbie Howes.
Check out their site, www.howesitgoing.com
The Markham Village Strathspey and Reel Society meets the 2nd. and 4th. Sat. 12 noon to 2 p.m in the Olde Markham Village Train Station.
(This Sat. Feb. 9, 2002 is the next one) Phil specializes in the Scotish, Cape Breton, and Canadian Standards, (but plays just about anything) and Debbie is one of the best piano accompanists in Ontario. "I'm only saying this, cuz it's true" I have had the pleasure to jam with them and ole "Scotty the Fiddler" about 3 times.
Phil said they had about eighteen people the last time, fiddlers
from 7 - 70. A lot of good jamming, and Phil teaches one new tune each session to the group.
I'll be making my monthy trek from Baltimore to Ontario this weekend, so I'll be there sawing away too.
If y ou are close, and free at that time, please come on up,.
Cheers, Carl
