Does anybody here know a hornpipe called 'Albert House'. It does not seem to be the same as Prince Albert's Hornpipe. I've searched all over the net, but haven't found it. I guess it's better known under another name. Any help would be appreciated
Lars
This tune is one that my band used to play before I joined them. And they claim that's the name.
The only result on the web was some discography mentioning that someone had recorded a tune by that name. So there probably was a tune named Albert House.

It just occurred to me -- even though Will writes he didnŽt find anything even sounding or looking similar -- that it might be spelled differently. I had that happen to me once when I was looking for a Scottish strathspey called "The Haughs of Cromdale" (WhoŽd think it would be spelled like that?). That one was easier to find out, but not because of the "haughs"...
Is it totally lost, or do your colleagues still have a bar or two that could be used as a starting point if you posted them in Abc here?
I made this request because I'm lazy and didn't want to learn it by ear!!!
But now I've become curious, so I'll make it the hard way and learn it by ear, transcribe it to abc and post it here. Then we'll see if some of you can recognize it. Maybe it's known under another name? My band colleagues usually don't know obscure and unknown tunes
It may take some days, but I will return with the tune!

OK, so now I've uploaded Albert House as I've interpreted it from my friends playing on mandolin. It's in Amajor so maybe it's Scottish and not Irish? Do any of you recognize it under another name or is it similar to any other hornpipe?

Re: request for yet another tune
Lars, I've never heard that name, and I too looked all over the web and through my shelves of tune collections--nothing even similar to Albert House.
Where did you hear it? Recording or live?

Wrong spelling?
Same at my end. Nothing in my collection so far
