Gaelic Roots this year?

Gaelic Roots this year?

Since I'm in New England a lot lately, I was wondering if anyone here knows whether Gaelic Roots in Boston is planned for this year. Thanks.

Nope, not unless they've changed their minds -- last year they announced it was the last year for GC...

I'm sure you're right; it's time I checked out music in Boston...I'm still learning and have stuck to sessions out in the sticks so far. Long trips on weeknights are a little tough with my early work hours, but I'll get there sooner or later!

Re: Gaelic Roots this year?

True enough, there is no Gaelic Roots, much to the sorrow of us all.
One event to keep in mind, however, is the Irish Cultural Center of New England Festival from June 11-13. This year, it's being moved from Stonehill College to the ICC headquarters in Canton, Mass., about half-an-hour south of Boston.
I've only been to it once, and found it generally enjoyable. They usually bring in some pretty good names (ranging from De Danann to Black 47), and there are numerous side attractions, and a session tent.
I know a couple of people who are helping to organize it, and my impression is that they're wanting to explore some other music and dance traditions as well.
