Instrument making courses

Instrument making courses

Im looking into doing an instrument making and repair course (woodwind)at London, Newark or elsewhere in the UK. I would be interested in feedback from anyone who has attended such a course, especially the ones at London and Newark.

Re: Instrument making courses

Where was the violin making course, Mike? I want to get a new fiddle eventually, and I am always in search of new evening classes to do...that would kill two birds with one stone!

Re: Instrument making courses

i have done a woodwind making couse but I found the instructors were blowing hot air most of the time ;-)
Trial and Error is the key Herschel, go chop some branches off a tree and play around
What would you call your flutes? I play a Karr at the mo, it ok but I'm looking out for a Tractor to buy

Re: Instrument making courses

Why not write to James Beatley in Dublin.
He is now working as a professional Fiddle maker, & I believe he studied at Newark.
