Kevin Burke fans: don't miss this!

Kevin Burke fans: don't miss this!

RTE's "The late session" on Sunday (Feb 22nd) was almost entirely devoted to the second half of a Kevin Burke concert recorded at the Burren Bar in Boston in April. The RealAudio stream is still available (I suppose until this coming Sunday) here:

Re: Kevin Burke fans: don't miss this!

Don't know for sure. If I had to guess, he looked to be early twenties in the Bothy Band days - 1976, so that would make him fifty or so?

Wow, grego, thanks so much for that! It's fantastic. Makes me want to go home and practice.

Re: Kevin Burke fans: don't miss this!

i c. does he have a website? what impressed me was sitting there (or standing, who can tell) just playing solo fiddle for 45 minutes or so. pretty cool. to me it sounds like hes an old guy though, thats maybe stereotypical of me.

Kevin's web site: http://pws.prserv.net/kevinburke/

It includes a nice autobiography.

I'm an old guy too. :)

Re: Kevin Burke fans: don't miss this!

Burke is about 52 years old; if you call that old .....; remember John Doherty who was recorded when in his eighties .....

Re: Kevin Burke fans: don't miss this!

If you mean the first tune we hear Kevin playing, it's Kitty O'Shea. Most of the tunes he plays of this recorded gig at the Burren are also on his cd, "In Concert." Kitty O'Shea is the 3rd track on that.
