Howzitgaun? A jig's a jig, a reel's a reel but a strathspey is altogether different. Anyway, is there anyone who is interested in a Thursday session at the Rob Roy pub in London. I'm looking for folk who are interested in playing as many Scottish tunes as they know, plus any others...don't want to be anal about it in any way, but it's mostly Scottish tunes I know and I can see no reason at all not to play them. The manager there is up for chatting about it...no cash or amplification involved. I play whistles and small pipes. Any takers?
I'm unlikely to get there more than once a year, but I hope it takes off. I was staying in London about two minutes walk from that pub late last year and probably will again. It couldn't be more convenient.
I'm not in London much these days, but I'm always up for tunes when I am. A Scottish session would be a nice change - but not too much of a change, if you know what mean. My Scottish repertoire isn't vast, but I'd be happy to sit back and listen to the unfamiliar ones.
Hi - I'm a Scot resident in London, but most of my tunes are Irish. I probably have about a few dozen transition tunes, ie those shared by both traditions, and about half a dozen exclusively Scottish tunes. Does that count? I'd be interested to sit in and mostly listen though. Isn't the Rob Roy somewhere in Marylebone, W1, I think?
Any tunes count in my book. Scots, Irish or Scots/Irish...a good tune is a good tune. I'm just interested in playing as many tunes as I know.

Anyone else? 2 (welcome) occasional players and 1 listener disnae a seesion make. There must be more out there...
Why don't you put it on the listings section here. I see it's not Marylebone but Paddington. Still quite central and near Paddington Station; in fact I used to go to the pub which it used to be, The Royal Exchange, and that was a fine old pub. Hope it goes well.
Hi i'm a student living in halls round the corner from the rob roy.
I play small pipes but don't know that many tunes.
would be interested in coming along though
Thanks for the suggestions about the Feis and the accordian and fiddle club. I think I'll have a go wi them...I've re-arranged my work so I don't have to be in London as much. Perhaps the occasional Feis sessions might visit the pub in question...maybe there will be a few more people interested there too. I will post here plus a new discussion under the same title if anything looks like happening.

You might want to get involved with this crowd: http://www.feislondon.org/
I think Etienne & Christine are both back in Scotland now but there must be other people still doing stuff.
