Whoever first posted the silicone flute pad idea - thanks!
I can't recall who posted the silicone flute pad idea, but I just used it to repad an old German 9 key flute I just got. Not only is it easy, but it works exceptionally well! I just wanted to say thanks.
One note, do not cut the excess silicone for a couple of days to make sure it's dry though the middle...I cut it after only a day, and it oozed out and made quite a mess.
One really cool thing about repading this way is that the silicone creates a pad that perfectly matches the wood of the pad seat - even if the pad seat has imperfections. Also, I replaced a broken long F touch with one from another flute which wasn't quite long enough (just a mm or so off), and the silicone sealed it pefectly anyway.
Anyone who has done this, how long have your pads lasted?

I repadded my synthetic flute with silicom seven years ago. The pads still seem okay. I play this flute very seldom though, as I have a wooden one I can't keep my hands off...

I am going on 2 years
I repaded a few keys with Silicon, following the advice of this site -- it has been great -- no problems in almost 2years.
