Oaim

I've seen a lot of mentions on this site of the website oaim.ie but I haven't seen anyone review it. Has any one tried the more than free lessons and have something to say about it? good or bad?

Re: Oaim

I have considered signing up for this, but I'm not sure there is enough lessons yet (at least for fiddle) to justify the monthly subscription model. A pay as you go option might have been better, like Ian Walsh's lessons on onlinelessonvideos.com.

I may have a look at some of the sample lessons for other instuments. Does anyone else find it useful, (or easy) to learn tunes from lessons taught on a different instrument?

Re: Oaim

I joined this and I like it. I play the whistle.

They have three courses for the whistle from two teachers, Thomas Johnston and Mikie Smyth.

I really like it and while I like both teachers I really like Mikie's dirty piping techniques! It's added a whole new sound to my playing (!)

I don't think it is very expensive as I try and get 20 mins in front of the computer a few times a week (competing with 4 kids) so 17 euros a month is quite cheap for the time I get out of it.

I go back over lessons I learnt frequently and pick up more and more each time.

When I'm in a session and they play a tune I learnt from OAIM it astonishes everyone when I join in, add some variation and totally nail it.

You can learn tunes by ear from all the different instruments, not just the one you are interested in too which is great. they are listed so you can find them.

don't use the forum much and haven't submitted anything for review but both these are available.
