Swede bought an accordion, looking for tutoring books and music tips.
Swede bought an accordion, looking for tutoring books and music tips.
Hey all! I wrote a thread 2 days ago regarding an accordion purchase. I had several people recommend me to Sean Garvey which I contacted today. I had in mind his Garvey TAM 3 accordion but after I talked to him I added a couple of hundred quid and got a Serenellini 3 stopper for euro 1500. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/708/fullod.jpg/ This is the accordion. What do you think?
Hopefully I'll get it by next week so I can start playing!
So now I'm looking for some good tutoring books for the b/c accordion and also some nice irish accordion music I could melt my ears with

This is the tutoring book i've found so far. Any information regarding this or something else (aswell as my accordion) is welcome!

Seems to me like there's various styles and approaches to accordion playing. If you can at all, get over to the Willie Clancy week, 1st week in July normally, Miltown Malbay, Co.Clare. You could do lessons there but go to the 'box concert' anyways which is a great afternoon to see many of the leading exponents and their sound - they play one or two tunes each.

Thank you for your answers. Ordered the Damien one today so I'm looking forward to that one. The OAIM subscription didn't seem like my thing but I'll definitely use their free lessons !

Oh and the Serenellini is of course worn. 10 years old but I think it looks new and sounded great.

Why not learn online @ OAIM. They have a great accordion course, check out the free lesson here - http://www.oaim.ie/free-lessons

Serenellinis are excellent accordions, very well made. If yours has been well maintained the age shouldn't be a cause for concern.
Damien's book and DVD is a very good start, by far the most comprehensive tutor I've seen.
