So it's about six months since I should have taken my bow, with all twelve of the mangy hairs still clinging to it, to be rehaired. Where should I go to in London? Will it cost twice as much as elsewhere?
That's where I go, luckily for me I live about 5 minutes walk away! They cost £39 for a rehair I think, and can have it done next day. They use very good quality hairs - I play hard, and a lot, and they take a long time to wear down.
I was surprised to find that when wrapped in some bubble wrap, then packed in a length of plastic waste pipe (i.e. pretty securely protected) it could be sent in normal 1st class post, for only about £2.50. Even including postage it was significantly cheaper than London prices, or a couple of Bristol dealer / repairers I enquired.
She has just received it back and is very happy with it.
£39! I pay £50, plus I have to drive over 50 miles there and back twice. Once to take it and once to bring it back. I get through bow hair, on average, about once every 5 to 6 weeks.

Every five to six weeks? What are you doing with it? Sawing logs?
