For those who may not have noticed, RTÉ on their show "The Rolling Wave" have started re-broadcasting a landmark radio show, first transmitted in 1962 by Seán Ó Riada, called "Our Musical Heritage". This will extend over many programmes and outlines in detail many different aspects of Irish traditional music, both songs and tunes. Whilst not everyone may agree with Ó Riada's opinion's on certain points the series was of profound importance in the re-emergence of our music
A 3 LP boxed set was produced in 1981 with almost all of the musical extracts used on the show, and is listed on this site:
I should point out that "Rolling Wave" programme also tries to put the original show into a modern context, and includes discussions with various guests. So far they have had Peadar Ó Riada and Síle Denvir.
