Learning on the fly

Learning on the fly

It looks to me as though Niamh Ni Charra is learning the last tune on the fly here. If so, it's pretty impressive.

Re: Learning on the fly

I think she's great and a lovely person.

Good on the concertina too

Sadly, some people have chosen to give her a hard time on this site on previous occasions.

Re: Learning on the fly

Thanks for posting that, Gam.

Wonderful banjo playing, and good job on the fiddle from Ms. Ni Charra.

"give her a hard time"

What were they picking on her about, John?

It sounds like she can play traditonal, and she has, allegedly, some fine credentials in that department as a performer and as a teacher.
What, then?

Re: Learning on the fly

Piece,

You should know as you defended her strongly here..

:-)

It was just a bit of the "green eyed monster" as far as some of her detractors were concerned, I'm quite sure.

Re: Learning on the fly

I don't think she learned it on the fly. It looked more like she was thinking that they were going into something else, and it took her a sec to figure out what he was playing.

Re: Learning on the fly

Not only did they switch from a jig to a reel, he played the beginning of the tune pretty differently than it would normally go. I would be inclined to think that he was trying to go into something else, and ended up in Tuttles. (Thus her little smile there...)

That's good stuff, though!

Re: Learning on the fly

John J:

Ah, yes - HER.
I maintain my view - good stuff, and she plays what she likes. Cool.

I am glad I apparently do not need to double-check my values.

So, if elected, I shall stand by my promises made on the campaign trail. Please donate generously, November is coming.

Remember:
Vote "Piece".
That's all we really want.
