Sorry to lump these, in but I thought it would be less messy than doing two topics. first, can someone name me this tune; all I can remember is this tiny part: http://soundcloud.com/fred-holden/that-blasted-tune/s-6DTQ0 sorry I can't remember any more, but hopefully if you know the tune that'll ring a bell. Secondly, can anyone give me any left hand tips for part c of Maiden Lane on a d/g? Thanks! Fred

lovely tune, timmy, but that's not it i'm afraid. I think it's a jig
That's not a jig you're playing, Fred. I think you'll need to give us more to work on.

"Tripping over the bogs" by John McSherry perhaps? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGAkFexQxOE I learned the tune from a friend and had no name for it until I saw one in the comments of this video.

Agree with Kenny. That bit you provided could be the start of several tunes

it's not the start of anything, it comes in the middle of the b section. and Brown Ale Mugger, that's the tune exactly! Thankyou so much
This thread has proved one thing. Just how remarkably good some people are at recognising a tune from a vague fragment!
