Ian Powrie R.I.P.

Ian Powrie R.I.P.

Just learned the sad news elsewhere

It's not Irish music and Ian played in what many might now describe as a more "old fashioned" style of Scotish music although I'd prefer to call it traditional.
However, he was one of the great fiddlers of our time.

This is one of my favourite tunes which ought to feature much more in sessions.

Re: Ian Powrie R.I.P.

Sorry to hear of the passing of a great musician. I remember the very popular 'Ian Powrie Scottish Country Dance Band' back in the early sixties. He was often featured on the BBC in those days.
The late Jimmy Blue played accordion for him and took over the band when Ian emigrated to Aussie in 1966
Ian was a son of Scottish accordionist Will Powrie who made records in the 1930s. May he rest in peace.
