I'm a bouzouki owner. I play guitar and can play melodies on the bouzouki just fine. My main Irish trad instrument is the concertina. I am a fan of bands like Planxy, Dervish and DanĂº that make good use of the bouzouki with counter-melodies and such. I can play chords and melodies on bouzouki but I don't know much about counter-melodies at all.
Anywho.... where I'm trying to go with this is that I am a member of concertina.net and I am familiar with melodeon.net, chiffandfipple.com and uileannobsession.com. Is there a forum devoted to the bouzouki in Irish music?
There is also an Irish Bouzouki group on yahoo groups. It is pretty quiet as is the cittern group. The mandolin cafe seems to be where more people are posting.
