Musicians WANTED to Form a BAND/GROUP in Ireland.

Musicians WANTED to Form a BAND/GROUP in Ireland.

Just posted this on boards.ie send me a email if your interested...

Hi all,
I am looking to set up a young new talented Irish traditional music group (18-35) to work and start gigging with throughout the country.

We will need:
A few good melody players Fiddle/Box/Whistle/Pipes/Flute......

A good accompanist on either Guitar/Bouzouki/Bodhran/Keyboard (or all!)

And a possibly a singer

I play tenor banjo, mandolin, guitar and a few other instruments. I have a degree in music and have lots of experience in gigging and performing.

The plan is to form a unique professional sounding traditional group/band that will suit for pub gigs and also the concert hall(and make money doing it!). Musicians must be willing to work hard and practice together. This could be a great opportunity for musicians interested.

Please email me if you are interested, I am based in Co. Kildare but would be willing to travel.

I might have applied but I'm 34. Not much point if I'll be kicked out next year :)

AGE ISSUE

There's nothing wrong with 35-105. The only reason I added the age is because the older folks tend to have other commitments..kids, wife....which can cause issues with travelling and touring.

BUT PLEASE DO EMAIL ME IF YOUR OLDER THAN 35 AND WOULD BE COMMITTED TO TRAVEL AND WORK.....

Re: Musicians WANTED to Form a BAND/GROUP in Ireland.

Whats the difference between a traditional band and shares in a company?
Your shares might eventually mature and start to earn a bit of money!
Boom,boom.

Re: Musicians WANTED to Form a BAND/GROUP in Ireland.

Mother to child..."What would you like to be when you grow up?"

Child..."I want to be a professional musician!"

Mother..."Ssssh...you can't do both at once!"

All the best

Re: Musicians WANTED to Form a BAND/GROUP in Ireland.

A while ago now, there was this guy ( or was it a girl ? ) looking to form a band, maybe even a troupe of musicians and dancers, to take Ireland, and then the world, by storm.
There were promises of American tours lined up for a few months time, and great things ahead, but for now what was wanted was people prepared to work hard, practising together all hours of the day and night getting everything right, no breadheads or timewasters need apply, own transport useful.
We never got a report back on how things were going.
A number of people, myself included, pointed out some of the things that have to be worked through to make a dream like this actually happen, and I think we were roundly castigated, and not thanked, for trying to stamp on someone.
Not at all.
Many of us here on the board have had some small brush with trying to take things beyond the level of just a session in a pub, and know a few of those who have succeeded. It's not an easy life. For every success there are many failures, for for every step forward there are many setbacks. You need far more than just youthful energy, optimism, and enthusiasm. You need persistence, stubbornness, and a darned thick skin.
But good luck.
You will need it.

PS; What's wrong with someone over 60 ?
Did someone ask Terry Woods how old he was when he joined the Pogues ?

Have you had any luck getting any members yet? Just curious, what type of banjo music are you into, I'm yet another banjo player?!
