Has anyone ever been to this? It's at a convention center in King of Prussia, PA, the weekend of Feb 14th. The lineup and the ticket prices have convinced me it's worth a short road trip.
Re: 12th Annual Scots/Irish fest near Philadelphia
I've been for about the past 4 years or so, and am going again this year. I've always gone on saturday which runs until midnight and later, but this year, i'm gonna check out sunday, so i'll be curious to see how it compares. Anyway, I think it's a great time. Don't go looking for anything overly traditional Irish. If anything, the lineup usually tends to favor more of the Scottish influences, which is fine by me. Yeah, the venue is a bit echoe-y like Andee mentioned, but with the two main stages they have, there never seems to be any bleeding of sound. There's usually 2 main CD vendors that are worth checking out. Rampant Lion (www.rampantlion.com-- i think that's the url) carries mostly Cape Breton and Scottish stuff (CDs, videos, shirts, etc), and Tara Records (I think that's the name) carries the Irish stuff. You can also find the odd CD laying around at some of the other vendors. With the vendors, you of course usually have the typical "parking for Irish only" kind of stuff, but you also get some nicer jewelry and woodwork stuff. If you're not too far, I'd say it's worth the drive to check out. I used to drive 2 hours from Baltimore to go, and am happy that my Philly university is quite a bit closer. Oh, and there's also an area for sessions that they added last year, but I didnt make it up there, so I don't know much about it. I always have my flute just in case though. Anyway, hope that helps. Feel free to ask more questions. Odds are, I have the answers.

Oh, just noticed that you Karen, like myself are a Marylander. Yeah, unless you live in Garrett County or somewhere out in the boonies, I'd say it's worth the drive.

Oh and while we're mentioning vendors--check out Celtic Folkworks if they are there this year--excellent quality "celtic-y" stuff from clothing to books and jewelry. Awesome people who own it, too.

I went once or twice. It was fun. But not and ideal venue for music--very large space and a loud and echo-y place.
