Re: Glasgow sessions this weekend

The Ivory has a regular Friday night session. You might well find "session.orgers" Niall Kenny and "NoCauseFor Alarm" there. I was there in January - it was a very high standard, and - to my mind - very fast. They have a CD out, which I'd recommend - see link below :

Haha - thanks for the plug Kenny.

Yes Dave_ - come on down to the Ivory from 9pm. It should be a good night.

Re: Glasgow sessions this weekend

There is also a session in Babbity Bowsters on Saturdays, from 4pm to whenever people feel like it. Can be a good session. Can also be very busy and loud in the pub.

Any more up to date info on good Irish Session Pubs in Scotland, would be much appreciated for this group:

Yes NCFA, I did give your CD a plug over there, too. ;-)

Link them to this one: http://www.thesession.org/sessions/display/2178

Sorry, I'm probably not going to join that website, as I need more internet distractions like a hole in the head.

Re: Glasgow sessions this weekend

Al, do you know if that one in the Barrowlands is still going?

Re: Glasgow sessions this weekend

The Barrowlands? If you mean the one that was on London Road then no it is not. It didn't run for very long.

Re: Glasgow sessions this weekend

I'm going to be up in Glasgow this weekend (9-11 Sept 2011) - as the above was posted only a month ago I assume it's still up to date!

I'm only likely to get there after 10pm on either Friday or Saturday - do things carry on late?

Hopefully see some of you there!

Re: Glasgow sessions this weekend

Sessions in Scotland generally run from about 9-12. Certainly that is the case for the Friday night session.

Re: Glasgow sessions this weekend

The Saturday session in Babbity's may or may not run late. Sometimes it's dead in the water by 7, but at other times it goes on until you're kicked out of the pub after midnight. Depends on who shows up and how inclined they are to stay late.
