I live in Australia and yes I certainly read it. Many of my musical friends rely on CDs as a source of learning tunes as much as a listening pleasure. Fleadhanna and feiseanna are few and far between here. I'll give this bloke his due, he stocks some pretty good stuff and when I put my order in it arrived within 2 weeks. Once a month pushing his wares, given that the music he is selling is relevant to this site, is fine by me, although I wonder whether I'm in a minority on this one.
Now that he's calmed down a bit, yes, it's fine by me. He was overdoing it, and people asked him to settle down, and he settled down, and I have no problem with his current posting.
I could see that changing if more people started posting regular "stuff I have for sale" announcements - this is a discussion board, not a flea market! - but as long as it's just him and he's reasonable about it I don't mind.
(not that I read the lists, but I don't mind if he posts them)
celtic turntable has put loads of wonderful stuff on YouTube - we should be grateful to him: http://www.youtube.com/user/k4hx1#p/u
(this is him, isn't it?)
I'd rather have occasional updates here than the regular promotional shight I get in my inbox from the mega-companies who think they rule the world. Keep it up, Peter.
That is. I think all of that was put up before he was informed that sock-puppeting is usually considered bad form, though. I'm sure that anything he puts up now with links to his company informs the user that he is an interested party.
Good luck to the man I say.
Interesting that, on another forum, Philippe Varlet who runs Celtic Grooves in New York, was saying that he will probably be closing because downloading has almost rendered CD's obsolete. All very well until your hard disc crashes and your "record collection" vanishes in the rubble. I hope you folks in the New World will support these two guys and continue to buy shaving mirrors rather than smoke and mirrors.
deeor: Trust me, unless you're keeping them in a bank safe deposit box, my downloaded albums are much safer than your CDs. (Every downloaded album is on at least four hard drives, one of them offsite...)
