Just for reference mate, your sex is not "on fire"

Just for reference mate, your sex is not "on fire"

Whilst I am normally quite happy to have the odd song sung in the session and I tend to have a broader definition of what is and isn't an acceptable song for a traditional session than many folk there are some songs that just are not suited.

Err - that is all.

Did he play it on a five string banjo, but strummed it like a guitar a la set lakeman? Perhaps, NCFA, the world is simply not ready for this level of innovation.

This is a sensitive issue. Chlamidia is on the rise among the young, he should be advised to contact his health care provider.

Re: Just for reference mate, your sex is not "on fire"

Ach. No worries. He seemed a really nice guy, was a visitor I think, and it is not a session I go to that often these days. It is, by all accounts, not the same sort of session as it once was but these things move on and all that...

Re: Just for reference mate, your sex is not "on fire"

You can use some of the smaller saxes (soprano, for example) as kindling, to get a tenor sax going. Those bigger ones take a bit of igniting.

Oh...sex...

Re: Just for reference mate, your sex is not "on fire"

But does it work on a case of Ring of Fire?

"Love is a burning thing... and it makes a fiery ring"

Re: Just for reference mate, your sex is not "on fire"

If its not OK to sing "sex is on fire" is it OK to play it on traditional instruments?

Re: Just for reference mate, your sex is not "on fire"

Re the Seth Lakeman reference; I was at "Folk by the Oak" up at Hatfield recently, and my ears were ringing for days after Seth Lakeman and his band finished off the evening. We were sitting near the mixing desk, so that was obviously the sound level required by the artist.
Not by me.
I shall avoid any future live shows by the gentleman.
They certainly finished off the evening for me !

"We were sitting near the mixing desk, so that was obviously the sound level required by the artist. "

Not necessarily. The artist is typically on stage when the sound is coming out of the mains - they're hearing the monitors. At a festival, it's entirely possible they never met the sound man, just did their sound check and went.
If it was his guy, though, yeah, what you heard is what they meant.
