August Bank Holiday Festivals?

August Bank Holiday Festivals?

Hi lads,
I am bored out of my skull and have no plans for the coming weekend.

Are you aware of any trad festivals around the West (Mayo, Sligo, Galway...) for the coming bank holiday? Couldn't find anything on the internet. I'd love a nice fiddle workshop and an afternoon pint...ehm... session.

The James Morrison Traditional Music Festival is on at Riverstown, Co. Sligo from the 29th to the 31st July -

If you're looking for reasonable and cheap accommodation, there's the Arrowrock Hostel, a few miles southeast - http://www.arrowrockhostel.com/.

Alternatively, there's the adjacent campsite - http://www.lougharrowcaravanpark.com/.

The Ballyshannon Folk Fest is where I usually pop down the road to at this time of year http://www.ballyshannonfolkfestival.com/ but on Saturday I'm off to see the mighty Prince at Malahide. It's going to be mighty even if the rain is purple and the doves are crying

Re: August Bank Holiday Festivals?

Yeah thanks for the tips. I saw the Ballyshannon one but they've no proper fiddle worskshops, might see if I can get a lift up anyway. If the weather's nice could stop in Bundoran for a swim.
