My first time too - what a fantastic week of tunes with plenty of free food and booze. It almost got off to a very bad start when i went to the pub as soon as i arrived in town, and tried to pitch my tent at 3am while blind drunk and with just my mobile phone for light...
It's a MUCH nicer experience than Milltown - there seems to be a friendlier buzz around the place. I think every day I got free drinks and food in pubs where I was playing. I was going to say it was far more civilised, but now that I think about it, I played in a pub in Drumshanbo that was serving booze up until 5am, so it was daylight by the time I got back to the campsite... Not sure how civilised that is. There seemed to be a huge contigent of Northern musicians who were all great craic, and not nearly as many smelly crusty hippies as you get in Milltown.
Come hell or high water I'll be back in Drumshanbo next year, whereas I could take or leave Milltown.
‘Free food’, ‘pitch my tent at 3am while blind drunk’, ‘booze up until 5am’… Colman, that must be you! The only thing that doesn’t match up is the comment about the pipers ;) Enjoyed the tunes and craic with you the past few days.
That was my second year at Drumshanbo and have so say I will be back next time come rain, shine, sown or ice. Great tunes, great people, great craic.

Roshambo
I came away from Drumshanbo with a renewed love for The Earl's Chair' after hearing it played by a pair of brilliant pipers from Belfast.

Hi Pat
Pitching your tent whilst blind drunk at 3 am eh? Too bad there weren't any smelly, crusty hippies nearby to annoy.
