thanks for the kind words - that would be me and I'm a lass, not a lad - tattooed punk rocker, not exactly the girl next door. Apologies for missing half a bar on the B part - learnt it off by ear at a Kieran Hanrahan workshop a few years back and the memories obviously not what it used to be on me.
Just compared how I'm playing it in that clip to the version on Kieran Hanrahan's CD and it sounds to me that I'm missing half a bar at the very end of the A part the second time through each go round. But I could be wrong - sure I already am!
Jill's videos should be assigned watching for 4 string banjo players, both those aspiring, and those who already think they know it all, because she plays with "feel", I complain so much about plectrum players who just bang out the tunes like a steady stream, faster and faster, to a point of pulseless fibrillation. what ever she is doing it sure sounds great to me. I'll bet she can be plenty fast when she wants and still has great pulse, thanks for sharing Jill. PS I want one of those guitars!

ya that tongs by the fire jig has been in my head since last night, I expect it to be coming out of my fiddle by the end of the day. She's an inspiration to this fiddle player.
Some nice playing

Re: Some nice playing
Nice playing but he's missing half a bar the first time through the B part on both occasions.

Re: Some nice playing
Nice stuff indeed. That's what they call a "nice and easy" pace.

If there's a bit missing here and there, it still sounds great. I'm sure you can get the missing bits back into it if it bothers you...

Re: Some nice playing
Cheers Jon! I do find that the tenor guitar lends itself to playing "nice and easy" - great new toy altogether!

Sorry about the inadvertent gender re-assignment, Ms upstairs. Keep putting those videos up, when you have time.

Re: Some nice playing
I thought the jig playing was great, really liked it. (Not so sure about fergal O gara as a hornpipe though)

Re: Some nice playing
I know, I'm a terrible one for veering into hornpipey-ness, guilty as charged! Must go back and record that one again.
