This is my first post on here. Hello Everybody. Hope you can help.
Can anybody recommend a good dealer of used and new fiddles in the Manchester area?
I have two instruments that i would like to trade, one is apparently of some half decent pedigree, if a little 'well used', so i'm preferably looking for someone who considers trade-ins.
Thanks
If you don't mind travelling a little, head over to Sheffield and visit Allan King (http://www.allankingpianossheffield.co.uk/) - he has a huge supply of fiddles at very, very good prices. I got my current one from there, wouldn't hesitate to go back.
From Manchester, your best bet has to be Kevin George at the Violin Shop in Talbot Sq Blackpool. He is a violin dealer who really knows his stuff, and will give you what you paid for a fiddle back in part-ex when you trade up.
You will get the best choice & fair prices from him. I bought three fiddles from him before I found "the one" and never regretted dealing with him for a minute.
A bit of a journey from manchester but well worth it.
It might be worth going to see Ken in Hobgoblin on Oxford Road, and there's a chap who makes and sells fiddles in Leek whom it might be worth contacting (I can't recall his name) . . . Colin someone?
