Well, when we take a dive across the atlantic to play a few american tunes it's always very popular: we do June Apple before it. (Maybe once or twice a year!)
The David Grier (relatively slow) one was nice. The Dubliners sort of got away with that very fast pace. The Kenny Baker/Sam Bush one, bleurgh. (Is Sam Bush notable for anything except the speed he plays at?)
Byron Berline played a great version of this tune on his "Dad's Favorites" LP from 1977. After all these years it's still one of my favorite bluegrass fiddle albums. One of Berline's skills is that he can take a really well worn ,overplayed tune and bring an entirely fresh take on it. He also plays "Arkansas Traveller" on this LP and both of his versions of these tunes are blinders. There's not a weak track on the whole album.
I've heard that album and if I remember correctly, he played a nice take on the Miller's Reel. I'm going to look that up.
He is a very good fiddler and a good guy as well. I've stopped by his shop a couple of times in Oklahoma. It's called the Double Stop Fiddle Shop and it is a must stop shop! I don't think I've ever seen so many good fiddles all in one place.

Don't be so mean. It's to go up on the living room wall, in a nice gilt frame.

Re: Ragged Annies
I've always hated this tune, but when I listened to the "original" recording of it I could appreciate it a little bit more.
The popularity of it is due to legendary Texas fiddler Eck Robertson's recording of it way back when.
Here is what seems to be a close transcription of his playing:

Eck's playing of it so much more interesting than most versions played these days.
Here is the original recording...
