I'm glad you included the side view; that's quite a deep body it has, must add a lot to the sound.

Aye, the sound is warm, with a good bit of body. I had a moon octave mandola before I got this with probably a bigger all-round body, but the sound from this is a good bit warmer and deeper - that may be to do with the woods as well though - I think the bear claw spruce moon use gives a lot of clarity and punch, but maybe takes away from the warmth...

Looks like a cedar top to me. That will be a bit warmer and mellower than spruce.

Aye, it is redwood cedar.

I have a similar one, but with the scroll headstock. They're nice bouzoukis.

Me too - lovely instruments, with a nice rounded sound, especially given the relatively small body. Aesthetically improved too by the new tailpiece he designed.

Neck perhaps a little deep and fingerboard a bit narrow for some, would be my only criticism, but quite helpful if you like playing tunes too. The cedar topped ones are indeed warmer still.

Paul is a great chap - he set me up with nearly a dozen different instruments to play on when I called on him last summer, and left me there for a good two hours, plied me with coffee etc. while I narrowed it down to one.
