Flook is pretty unique. And to that phrase, I know folks that would add "thank goodness," while others would say "more's the pity." Like many distinctive bands, they tend to polarize listeners. They are a little too inventive for my taste, but I certainly admire their musicianship and their energy!
KAN (yes, all caps): http://www.myspace.com/kanmusic
Brian Finnegan, Aidan O'Rourke, Ian Stephenson and Jim Goodwin. Different style from Flook (personally I prefer Flook), but just as skillful and inventive.
KAN are quite good, I saw them live about a year and a 1/2 ago. They were calling themselves the Brian Finnegan quartet at the time but it is the same band. Unfourtunatly there weren't more than 30 people in the place, The Cherry Tree in Walkinstown, Dublin, including the band and staff.
"Flook is pretty unique" hence the name maybe? I think you're gonna be disappointed if you listen with the wrong mindset. I would rather listen to Flook than classic rock radio.
I've searched all the links... kasir sound good I'll definately give them a whirl. Parsec sound even better but I don't think they exist anymore - I think they were students at Limerick uni - if anyone knows who they were please post. I'd already seen KAN so i'm onto that one, thanks all xxx Oh! and i did manage to get deiseal thanks kenny.
Choonz - www.myspace.com/choonzmusic (to be fair, more similar to KAN than Flook imo)...
If you have a CD version of Deiseal 'long note' cd i'd be interested to (re)acquire it btw.
Are there any bands like Flook?
Are there any bands like Flook?
Are there any bands that sound like/are similar to Flook?
(I have Brian Finnigan's album - which is ace btw)
(Good Morning DM xxx)

Parsec do still exist, not sure how often they play together, but they'll be playing at Wackelstein Festival in Austria in July!
Geza Frank (pipes, whistles), Jean Damei (Guitar), David Lombardi (fiddle), Alan Reid (Banjo, Bodhran), Finn Harper (Acc, Bodhran)
