Just wanted to say that this is a pretty great site, I'm very impressed with the tune collection and organization (especially the grouping by CD!).
I was just wondering if people think it would be a good idea to have a 'public' set of tune lists such as:
most popular (the tunes that the most people have downloaded or added to their personal tune books)
highes rated (people could rate the tunes in their tune book or something)
uh..maybe there could be a most popular tunes list or each type of tune (reel, jig, etc..).
Ok. Well, this was just a thought since I'm on a mission to learn more tunes that people actually know at sessions since it seems that the tunes that I normally learn from CDs and stuff are pretty random and I end up playing solo....
Remember that just because there are certain tunes that are very popular on the list in the archives doesn't *always* mean that you're certain to hear them out at a session in any given place!
Yes, you'll often find sessions which feature fairly "unique" sets of tunes, depending on the repertoire of the main participants. Interestly, I've seen some excellent young players who have never seemed to learn many of the "well known" tunes and have to sit these out. Yet, they can "rattle away" on their own sets like nobody's business.
Just a thought but could people who go to regular sessions listed on the "sessions" bit of this site add a thread to say what tunes are commonly played there?

That's a little embarassing.
Just visited the members area for the first time.
Ok. Well. That's perfect. Off to learn some well-known tunes.
Thanks.
