"If a wild accordion player thinks outside the squeezebox, then a man who dances himself dizzy to accordion music will see polka dots." (according to a staff writer for the local newspaper).
Had a very compellling logo. Howsomever Herself showed little enthusiasm when I discussed putting together aome events to highlight the grandeur and diversity of the instrument.
Ann- You must have read my discussion thread last week on the relevance of knitting and related arts to the study and practice of ITM.
Herself has been very patient with my interest in playing box. She would desperatley like the opportunity to spend more time on her knitting and quilting.
she is one of those 'constantly-abused-in-the-press-by-publicity hound-politician-grossly-overworked-grossly underappreciated-teachers'. Whew....
Interesting thing happened on mothers day. The 30 something referenced in my last thread gave my wife a beautiful crocheted quilt. Backgrounf- Herself started on it when the 30 something came home from the hospital when she was born, but never could finish it in the the rush of getting 5 kids through school.
The daughter discovered it in a closet, finished it, and gave it to herself for Mothers day.
My old accordion is out in the open and none of the kids have grabbed it and started playing it
Talking of Accordions did anyone happen to see the four part series on BBC HD - 'The World Accordion to Phil'. Where Phil Cunningham goes wandering around the world listening to, and joining in with all the many different styles of accordion playing. Fascinating programme for Accordion lovers. Unfortunately I think it finished last night but it might be worth checking out to see if it's available on the BBC replay thingy..
Having met the staff writer for the local newspaper who wrote this item for the newspaper's monthly calendar, I suspect that he wasn't being serious and wrote it with tongue planted firmly in cheek.
Zippy-I have a quilt in the closet, started when my youngest was three. Thought maybe I would finish it for her high school graduation, but that didn't happen. I now have hope that she will take it and finish it. (She is also interested in playing the box, but if she does that, the quilt will never be finished, I fear.)
As the wounded hussar suggested above, anyone sitting near an accordion is already well aware of it. Anyone sitting far away from it has probably made the choice no to be near it !

Re: National Accordion Awareness Month
@zip: does Herself participate in Knit in Public Day? If so, she should be more supportive of World Accordion Day, so she should.

Re: National Accordion Awareness Month
Hmm...by 'national' I can assume the 'nation' is the US.
There are enough of them here not to warrant an awareness month.

Its funny. Herself and our eldest who finished the quilt battled. Now they are the best of freinds, and that quilt has now become a prized possession
