Between the 9th and the 13th of June I will be travelling around Ireland playing as much music as possible. I try to do this every year to make up for only getting to two or three sessions a month.
I'm hoping some of you can suggest some of the best sessions you can think of for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I'm completely flexible. Once public transport can get me there I will go anywhere in the country.
I really enjoy sessions with a few decent melody instruments such as Fiddles and flutes but I love playing with a good rhythm guitar player. I'll be bringing the pipes.
Last year I travelled to Carlow on the Thursday, Limerick on the Friday, Galway on Saturday then Cork on the Sunday.
I'm going to play in Carlow again on Thursday the 9th because I haven't been down there in a while. I'm thinking of going to Donegal on Friday. I've never played there before. Any suggestions where I should go there? I have no ideas for the Saturday or Sunday. Last year on the Sunday my chanter reed was giving me some trouble so I'm half thinking of going to Cork again.
Mainly I'm looking for some nice music, a bit of craic and the opportunity to hear some different styles.
There are some nice sessions around Athlone and Roscommon at the weekends. If you're think you might be around that neck of the woods, let me know and I'll find out what's happening...
Check out the Lee Sessions on Facebook. It's just the most up to date information about trad sessions in the Cork area. Maybe We'll meet up for tunes! Loads of nice sessions in Cork. Galway is great as well for visiting musicians.
You must have your own helicopter SlowandSteady! else your driving don't match your name. Donegal on Friday night and then hit Cork on Sat or Sun! I know it's not a big country but your kinda picking opposite ends, eh! At least, Carlow is in the middle, sort of.
Session suggestions.

Ha!
I've already looked at bus and train times. I can do it. It will be a chalange but certainly doable.
