Hi Folks, does anybody have any experience/views on the "Clover" concertina from Concertina Connection. In particular how does it compare to other mid-range hybrids like the Morse, Edgley or Norman?
Ken C. from C. net here. I built one for my beloved last summer. I had to tweak it a number of times but it is now as fast and tight as my Morse Ceili and the other decent midrange instruments I have a lot of time with. I spent _many_ hours sanding by hand, power tools would be a help there. I still need to touch up the tuning, but can't get it away from my dearest! Wim Wakker has got a winner, but it is mostly for the industrious, or crazy, among you.
In sum, you need to be patient, determined, and skill with tools would help. One of these days I'll get a photo essay posted over at C.net about it all.
Thanks for the info. I was thinking more of the "off the shelf" item than the kit - I'm not keen on tackling the construction but I take my hat off to you for doing it. I take it your dearest is delighted with your work!! Any views on the tone? I haven't been able to find any you tube clips or sound files of one.
-To my ear accordion reeded 'tinas seem to vary on a spectrum from "very accordionish" to "almost concertina-ish". Where would you place the Clover on that spectrum?
Thanks,
Clover Concertina

Re: Clover Concertina
Check on concertina.net. There has been a bit of discussion on the Clover.

Re: Clover Concertina
I'm quite happy with mine - but haven't had the opportunity to try out other mid ranges for comparison since acquiring it.
